Glossary
What is a Redirect (301/302)?
A redirect sends users and crawlers from one URL to another permanently (301) or temporarily (302).
301 redirects are the standard for URL moves and consolidation; they help consolidate signals. Chains and loops waste crawl budget and dilute authority. After merges and cannibalization fixes, set redirects deliberately.
